ENGLISH LANGUAGE CHALLENGES

 Hi everyone!

Today I´m going to talk about my English experience.

This year has been very intense and challenging because of the lockdown. On my daily routine, I have been using English while I’m watching movies and listening to music. I improve my English by watching tv, preferring American and British series, and it gets better everyday thanks to the university classes. Being able to use the blog to practice is fun and useful, it makes me write and learn with “day-to-day” words that I wouldn’t know any other way.

Still, my biggest challenge is speaking in English. I get very embarrassed when I have to talk because I’m not sure if my pronunciation is accurate, and its hard for me to find words that express what I want to say in the moment. To improve my speaking skills, I have planned to have a chat with my boyfriend, who talks a little bit more than me. That way I can practice with someone who won’t judge me.

Overall, learning English has been very useful for me. Now I can understand the meaning of my favorite songs, and I get the jokes, puns and wordplay on the sitcoms I watch. In relation to my professional and academic life, recently I wrote a paper with a friend, and we had to translate the abstract from Spanish to English for it to be published. With all of this in mind, I can say that I’m very grateful for learning English because it’s a tool that can help me in many ways, even in some that I don’t know of yet.
